What is Mellow Paw?

Mellow Paw is a pet wellness brand focused on one thing: helping your dog or cat feel calmer, happier, and more enriched every day. We design enrichment toys, calming beds, and anxiety-relief products that tap into your pet's natural instincts — like licking, sniffing, and foraging — to reduce stress, prevent boredom, and promote relaxation. No medication, no gimmicks, just products built around how your pet's brain actually works.

Why enrichment products instead of medication?

Veterinary behaviorists increasingly recommend mental stimulation as a first-line approach for managing pet anxiety and boredom-related behavior problems. Repetitive licking releases endorphins that naturally calm your dog's nervous system. Focused sniffing activates up to 40% of your dog's brain, which is why 15 minutes of foraging with a snuffle mat can tire them out as much as a 30-minute walk. Our products work with your pet's biology, not against it.

We're not anti-medication — some pets genuinely need it, and you should always consult your vet. But for many dogs and cats, enrichment is the missing piece that makes everything else work better.

Are your products safe?

Yes. All Mellow Paw products are made from non-toxic, pet-safe materials. Our silicone products are food-grade, BPA-free, and dishwasher safe. Our fabric products use non-toxic dyes and reinforced stitching. That said, no product is indestructible — we always recommend supervising your pet during use, especially if they're an aggressive chewer.

Products

Which product should I start with?

If you're not sure where to begin, our best seller is the Wobbly Enrichment Lick Bowl. Freeze some peanut butter or bone broth in it, hand it to your dog, and watch them stay calm and focused for 15–30 minutes. It works for anxiety, boredom, fast eating, and just giving yourself a moment of peace. Do these products actually work for anxious dogs?

They work for most dogs, yes — but we want to be honest with you. Every dog is different. Some dogs take to enrichment feeding immediately and you'll see a visible difference on the first use. Others need a few sessions to figure it out. The underlying science is well-established: licking releases calming endorphins, sniffing lowers heart rate, and having a "job" to focus on redirects anxious energy. These aren't magic — they're tools. Used consistently as part of a daily calming routine, most pet parents see a real difference within the first week.

What can I put in the lick bowls and lick mats?

Lots of things! The most popular options are peanut butter (make sure it's xylitol-free — xylitol is toxic to dogs), plain yogurt, banana, pumpkin puree, wet dog food, bone broth, and cream cheese. You can serve it fresh or freeze it for a longer-lasting challenge. We include a calming recipe card with ideas in every order.

Are these products suitable for cats too?

Our lick mats, snuffle mats, and calming donut beds work great for cats. Cats are natural foragers and many of them love lick mats with wet food or yogurt. The snuffle mat can be used with kibble or small treats. Our compression wraps and puzzle feeders are designed primarily for dogs.

What sizes do your products come in?

Sizes vary by product — each product page lists specific dimensions and a size guide. Our lick mats and snuffle mats are one-size-fits-all. Our calming donut beds come in small, medium, and large. Our compression wraps come in XS through XL with a chest measurement guide. If you're unsure about sizing, send us a message at mellowteam@mellowpaw.org with your pet's breed and weight and we'll recommend the right size.

Are the products easy to clean?

Yes. Our silicone products (lick bowls, lick mats, snuffle mats) are all dishwasher safe — just toss them on the top rack. They can also be hand-washed with warm soapy water. Our fabric products (snuffle ball, donut bed) are machine washable on a gentle cycle. We designed everything with busy pet parents in mind — if it's hard to clean, nobody will use it.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does shipping take?

Standard shipping typically takes 2–3 weeks from the date of your order. We ship from fulfillment centers that serve customers across the United States. Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number via email so you can follow your package every step of the way.

Why does shipping take 2–3 weeks?

We work with specialized fulfillment partners to keep our prices significantly lower than big-box pet stores — which means we can offer premium-quality enrichment products at prices that are accessible to every pet parent. The tradeoff is slightly longer shipping times compared to next-day delivery from massive retailers. Most of our customers tell us the wait is absolutely worth it for the price and quality.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — we offer free shipping on all orders over $30. For orders under $30, a flat shipping rate is calculated at checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship within the United States. International shipping is something we're working on — sign up for our email list and we'll let you know when it's available.

Can I track my order?

Absolutely. Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with a tracking number and a link to track your package in real time. If you haven't received a tracking email within 5 business days of ordering, check your spam folder first, then reach out to us at mellowteam@mellowpaw.org and we'll get you sorted immediately.

Returns & Satisfaction

What if my pet doesn't like the product?

We get it — pets have opinions. If your pet isn't into a product, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll work with you to make it right, whether that's an exchange for a different product or a refund. We want every pet (and pet parent) to be happy.

What's your return policy?

You can return any unused, undamaged product within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. For products that have been used but your pet simply didn't take to them, contact us and we'll handle it on a case-by-case basis. We'd rather lose a sale than lose your trust. To start a return, email us at mellowteam@mellowpaw.org with your order number.

What if my product arrives damaged?

Contact us immediately at mellowteam@mellowpaw.org with a photo of the damage and your order number. We'll ship a replacement at no cost to you — no need to return the damaged item. We stand behind the quality of everything we sell.

Orders & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. You can also use Shop Pay Installments to split orders over $50 into 4 interest-free payments.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

If you need to change or cancel your order, email us at mellowteam@mellowpaw.org as soon as possible. If the order hasn't shipped yet, we can usually make changes. Once the order has shipped, we unfortunately can't modify it — but our return policy has you covered.

Do you offer discounts or promotions?

Using Our Products

How often should I use enrichment products with my dog?

Daily is ideal. Just like humans benefit from a daily routine, dogs thrive with consistent enrichment. Even 15 minutes a day with a lick mat or snuffle ball can make a noticeable difference in your pet's anxiety levels, destructive behavior, and overall mood. Many of our customers build a morning or bedtime enrichment routine — it becomes the calmest part of the day for both pet and parent.

Can I leave my dog alone with these products?

We recommend supervising your pet with any enrichment toy, especially during the first few uses. Once you know how your dog interacts with a product — that they lick rather than chew, for example — you can make a judgment call on supervision level. Our silicone products are tough and durable, but no product is chew-proof for every dog. If your dog is a serious chewer or destroyer, start supervised and see how they do.

My dog finishes the lick mat in 2 minutes. How do I make it last longer?

Freeze it! Spread peanut butter, yogurt, or bone broth on the mat and freeze it for 2–4 hours before giving it to your dog. A frozen lick mat can keep most dogs engaged for 15–30 minutes instead of 2. You can also layer different textures — a base of peanut butter topped with kibble and a drizzle of bone broth, then frozen — to add difficulty and extend the challenge.

My dog is scared of the new product and won't go near it. What do I do?

Totally normal, especially for anxious dogs. Don't force it. Place the product on the floor with a few high-value treats on top (cheese, chicken, whatever your dog goes crazy for) and walk away. Let them approach it on their own terms. Most dogs warm up within 1–3 sessions. If your dog is very nervous, try putting a smear of peanut butter on just one small area of the mat so the reward is easy to access. Build their confidence gradually.
